Mindfulness and Action

To be a better citizen of the earth, practice mindfulness.    Mindfulness slows actions down and gives you that split second of awareness that is the difference between doing something that harms the earth and doing something that heals it.  Instead of throwing something in the garbage, consider what to do with it – recycle, reuse, compost?  As you leave a room, be aware that you are leaving the light on.  While brushing your teeth, be aware that good water is running down the drain. When shopping, evaluate the birth and death of an object and decide whether or not to make the purchase.
Mindfulness is my mother saying, “Think about what you’re doing!”  How different our actions might be if we went about our day with mindfulness.
